Director of Student Ministries
SUMMARY: This position spiritually equips students, grades 6-12, to be whole-hearted, lifelong followers of Christ in our church community by recruiting and supporting volunteer participants, teaching, and overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Student Ministries program.
Location: Mercer Island, Washington (just outside Seattle).
Reports to: Associate Pastor
FLSA status: Exempt, full-time.

Recruit, inspire and train volunteers to participate in student ministry and mission events, Christian education classes and large and small group gatherings.
Teach the Christian faith, consistent with MIPC’s theology (part of PCUSA), in a developmentally appropriate and user-friendly way.
Plan, execute and evaluate programs to grow the Christian faith of students and their families.
Outreach to un-churched students in the community
Build and nurture individual relationships with students and parents, demonstrating the principles of Jesus’ teaching.
Collaborate with Children’s Ministries and other MIPC ministries.
Perform other duties as needed/assigned as a member of the MIPC staff.
Biblically grounded believer, living in a way that reflects discipleship of Jesus Christ.
Minimum of 2 years leading youth in a Christian education program.
Demonstrated skills teaching students aged 11-18.
Proven ability to relate to and recruit adult volunteers.
Bachelor’s degree (with some theological education preferred.)
Competence with essential computer programs, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
Excellent public speaking and written communication skills.
Experience managing and maximizing financial resources.
Sound judgment, with experience in problem solving, project management and strategic planning.
Courageous, confident and humble servant/leader.
Intellectually curious, with a contagious enthusiasm for learning.
Experience in setting boundaries with students, holding them to age appropriate standards of respectful behavior.
Attentive to detail and disciplined with priorities.
Work schedule: Typically a 40 hour week, but due to programmatic needs may require work outside normal hours or additional hours in a day.
Physical demands: Must be able to work in an office environment using a computer work station, and must be able to engage in and lead, sometimes vigorous physical activities with students, to include lifting equipment up to 26 lbs. Non-smoking building and environment.
Salary: Minimum effective salary of $52,000.
