Associate Children’s Pastor


The Associate Children's Pastor will work closely with the Family Ministries Pastor helping in the implementation and development of programming and ministry for children so they may grow and explore faith in Christ, and equip their parents to fulfill their calling as the primary spiritual leaders of their children.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

• Work with the Family Pastor to set direction and implement the vision of the Children’s Ministry that contributes to the church’s overall vision • Teach children at various developmental stages • Write, develop or identify and implement curriculum used for all Family Ministry departments • Develop creative and innovative new programming to reach families and children • Recruit, train, and develop Family Ministry volunteers and have the ability to build teams • Create and maintain all Family Ministry volunteer schedules and weekly agendas via Planning Center • Lead adult or children’s small groups as needed • Ability to organize and lead meetings, events, and other areas of ministry • Lead or be actively engaged in all facets of Vacation Bible School (VBS) and other children’s ministry events • Provide evaluations of all children’s ministry programming • Write and distribute digital communications to parents and Family Ministry volunteers • Help develop and distribute training and resource materials for parents • Organize, revise, and manage distribution of Family Ministry curriculums and take-home sheets • Manage all weekly slide show presentations for Sunday Preschool and Elementary services • Coordinate and develop advertising for special events/ministries • Facilitate child care support for special Vertical Church events • Procure supplies as necessary for department and events as needed • Handle all necessary paperwork to progress the ministry • Maintain the Family Ministry calendar • Update Church ACS database and troubleshoot ACS check-in issues as needed • Develop metrics and track attendance for the Family Ministry • Attend meetings as requested

Experience, Knowledge, Skills and Traits Required:

• Bible school degree is required • At least 1-2 years of experience in a church ministry working with children • A valid Driver’s License with a clean record • Highly proficient with the MS Office Suite; Word and Excel and PowerPoint • Proficiency in Planning Center, Mail Chimp, Pro Presenter, and Automated Church Systems (ACS) preferred • Proficiency in InDesign or other graphic software programs are a plus • Familiarity the MAC software is a plus • Strong administrative skill set is preferred • Must be organized and able to handle multiple tasks at one time • Self-starter • Good at solving problems and takes initiative to do so • Must be able to set and achieve goals • Must be humble, open to change, and willing to learn • Strong people skills, friendly, welcoming personality • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

• Fully embrace the mission, vision, and values of Vertical Church • Active and growing personal relationship with Jesus Christ, evidenced by attitude and behavior • Maintain personal spiritual development through Bible reading, prayer, and regular church attendance • A call to Children's Ministry

Other Duties and Responsibilities:

• Must be an active member of Vertical Church • Proof-read proposals, letters, and other documents • Phone calls and emails • Scheduling appointments • Ability to sit in on Pastoral Guidance Sessions as needed • Any other tasks requested
