Next Generation Pastor
Description: This person will work with the Lead Pastor to oversee and grow ministry across multiple age-groups in the church ranging from the cradle to college. This new staff position will bring together all of these areas under one pastoral leader called the Next Generation Pastor. The NextGen Pastor will be someone who is highly motivated to actively engage with families in our church and the outside community not only on Sundays but throughout the week. They must also be able to recruit, train, and provide guidance to volunteer leaders and workers in the different ministry areas they oversee. They must possess excellent administrative, organizational and planning skills. An entrepreneurial rather than a maintenance approach to ministry is absolutely necessary with the goal of bringing about measurable growth to the church both spiritually and numerically.
Requirements: -Ability to relate to and cultivate relationships with kids, teenagers, young adults and parents. -Minimum 2-years successful ministry experience in family-related ministry including children, middle-school, high-school and young adults. -Creative, energetic and entrepreneurial attitude and ministry approach -A strong work ethic. -A commitment to perform all duties with excellence -An ongoing learner who continually adds to and sharpens ministry knowledge and skills. -Computer skills including at a minimum the ability to work in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Powerpoint. -A desire to serve the Lead Pastor and willingness to support and promote his vision for the church. -A spiritually-disciplined personal life that prioritizes significant time in Bible reading, study and meditation and prayer. -Willingness to undergo a performance review process periodically.
We are a ninety-year old church going through a phase of revitalization to position us to reach the next generations more effectively. We are located in the Baltimore,Maryland metro area about 30 minutes from Baltimore's inner harbor. We have recently completed a strategic plan which identified seven key areas we need to address to move our church forward. One of those is strategic staffing.
