St. Aidan’s is a warm vital and growing congregation nestled in Cypress, TX. Cypress, a suburb of Houston, is experiencing explosive demographic growth. Founded 11 years ago we have grown rapidly. Our Average Sunday Attendance is 180 is primarily made up of families, and we anticipate reaching parish status in February of 2014. All of our worship is from the Book of Common Prayer, and the majority of our congregation worship together at our 10:30 a.m. service with a contemporary praise band. We are in a prime location with plenty of room to build as we expand our ministries to meet the spiritual needs of the population boom coming to our area.

Last December the Rev. Les Carpenter came to us as our second Vicar. The transition has been surprisingly easy, and this year has been a great time of renewal and reconnection for our church. St. Aidan’s has a long history of strong Children’s Ministry. Our youth program has some real strengths though it has lacked the continuity we are committed to achieve. We have had youth ministers in the past though for last year we have been without one. Despite this limited staff support, the adult volunteers have grown the program. Because of some staffing changes in the church we realized that we are in a unique position to reorganize how we do all of our formation ministries. As part of that process we had a time of intentional listening and assessment by experts with the Diocese of Texas (for that report contact Rev. Les Carpenter). The plan that has emerged has strong support for the congregation and was one of the center points of this year’s Stewardship campaign which yielded a 39% increase both in terms of numbers of pledges and in dollars pledged.
