Experience

Associate Pastor of Students: Nassau Bay Baptist Church- Houston TX
August, 2017- Present
Responsible for overseeing all aspects of the Student Ministry (6th-12th grade) at a medium sized church. The church’s average attendance on Sunday is 500 with a total membership of 1200. In my role I plan and execute student ministry activities such as mission trips, community outreaches, and social events to encourage students to live out their faith. I set and operate within the yearly budget ($36,000). Train and equip adult volunteers and parents to help lead and minister within the student ministry. Organize large events for the student ministry such as mission trips, and Disciple Now Weekend, and Dare 2 Share Live. Served as the VBX leader in which we averaged 55 middle school students participate. Attend student school events to provide encouragement and support to students involved in the student ministry outside of the church building. Relational ministry is a key focus which includes being visible to the community and to students by being where they are. As opportunity arises being a speaker at various events such as school Bible Clubs and Colligate Ministry (BSM) events. I am a team player who believes partnering with our Senior Pastor, following his leadership and guidance are important to having a healthy pastoral team. This teamwork includes time of prayer and meeting to plan special services or discuss needs, concerns and praises each week. On average I fill the pulpit 3-5 times a year to deliver sermons to the congregation. Other duties include: maintaining the churches website content, social media, and serve as the liaison for the church’s public relations committee. Computer skills include utilizing PowerPoint, ProPresenter, ShelbyNext, and Adobe CC.

Student Pastor/Financial Officer: Lake Athens Baptist Church- Athens TX
August, 2013- August 2017
Responsible for overseeing all aspects of the Student Ministry (7th-12th grade). Organize and lead events for the student ministry such as mission trips, and Disciple Now Weekend. Served as the VBS Director in an effort that saw over 80 children participate. Helped organize a local network of Student Pastors and led efforts to create community student worship events as a way to break barriers among individual churches. Other duties included: maintaining the church’s website, social media, and create PowerPoint presentations for special services. Overseeing the audio and video team during Sunday services and provide encouragement and training as needed. As God provides growth of the student ministry on going recruitment of volunteers and training them is a vital role of a Student Pastor which is ever evolving. Proven leadership through the growth of student ministry: initially there were 6 students (Aug. 2013) today there are 40 active students. This is substantial in a small rural town in a church that averages 200 in attendance.
As the Financial Officer I oversee the database of weekly giving, and other financial aspects of the church. These include weekly payroll, expenses, and maintaining budget reports. Computer skills to conduct this position include Excel, Assist, and QuickBooks.

Student Pastor (Bi-Vocational): First Baptist Church of Seabrook- TX
May, 2007 – August 2013
Responsible for overseeing and planning lessons for student ministry Sunday school and Wednesday night programs. Overseeing event planning and maintaining youth budget under the direction of the Senior Pastor. As opportunity arose, speaking at schools for discipleship clubs and other student interaction outside of the church. Additional responsibilities include preaching in the absence of the Senior Pastor, officiating weddings, and any other duties required of me as a church elder. During my time at FBC Seabrook the student ministry experienced wonderful growth. After being affected by hurricane Ike our student ministry diminished to about 3 students over the next two years the student ministry grew to an average of 32 students in a church with an average attendance of 130 on Sunday.
