Job Description

About the Church
FPC Houston is a thriving ECO congregation in the heart of Houston, Texas, a city of innovation and opportunity. The church is committed to cultivating community in the way of Jesus for the flourishing of the city. People describe the church as “family,” “devoted,” “engaged,” and “loving Jesus.” With a rich tradition of vibrant student ministry and a strong, motivated staff, the church is well-resourced to step into its next chapter of dynamic student ministry, to effectively reach Houston’s middle and high school students.

About the Ministry
FPC Houston’s student ministry has a strong reputation with the greater community, drawing students from a large geographic area. 140 middle and high school students engage in Sunday morning or midweek discipleship opportunities on a weekly basis. Students have especially enjoyed the seasonal trips offered by the ministry to build relational connections and rich memories. Along with the rich traditions, the staff acknowledges the current opening as an opportunity to step into a new chapter, innovating ministry to meet the changing and challenging needs of students in today’s culture.

The Ideal Candidate
Successful candidates will be theologically aligned with the essential tenets of ECO, with an entrepreneurial spirit and a calling to invest deeply in students for the long term. Candidates with a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, along with three to five years of demonstrated success leading student ministry and supervising staff in a large church setting, along with relational prowess, a collaborative spirit, and a heart to build something new will thrive in this role.

Key Responsibilities
- Provide visionary and supervisory direction and guidance to the youth staff and summer interns

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree, Master’s preferred.

About the Community

Houston boasts restaurants, shops, neighborhoods and festivals that reflect its many global influences. The vibrant arts community, world-class medical institutions, professional sports teams, and more than 40 institutions of higher learning reinforce the vibrant energy of the city. The cost of living is lower than most major U.S. cities, and with no state income tax, your dollars go further here.
