Cowboy Fellowship
Connect, Grow, and Serve
Church description
Our humble beginnings started with a core group of 13 men who had been praying for an opportunity to minister to cowboys, ranchers, and others not in the habit of attending church. Based on good music, a short sermon, food, fellowship, and roping, the group gathered by the Dumas Arena every 1st and 3rd Tuesday of the month. Two years later, God began to place a new vision in their hearts - to start a cowboy church. Cowboy Fellowship was born.
Pastor Pete Pawelek, an Atascosa County native, agreed to join and help launch the church. The first service on May 3, 2003 had 172 attendees in the Atascosa County Show Barn. Not long after, the church outgrew the Show Barn and built its current building, opening its doors in 2006. The original vision of ministering to cowboys and ranchers led the church to build a covered rodeo arena facility in 2012.
