About FPC-Missoula

First Presbyterian Church of Missoula, Montana, is a loving and welcoming body of believers with a multi-generational membership of approx 500. We are the church of “A River Runs Through It,” the novella written by Norman McLean, which was later made into a popular movie. This is not our primary identity but it is a piece of our history many people find interesting. Our primary identity and purpose is to celebrate and experience LIFE IN CHRIST, LIFE TOGETHER, LIFE FOR OTHERS. We are a church that thrives on engaging in authentic relationship with one another and reaching out through missional opportunities in our community, in other parts of the U.S., and globally.

We celebrate worship with two services on Sundays, including a 9:30 traditional and 11:00 contemporary service. Children’s programming on Sundays includes nursery for infants and toddlers during both services; Sunday school for pre-school thru 5th grade during the 9:30 service; and “children’s celebration” during the 11:00 service, which includes learning activities for combined age groups. We transition to a single, 9:30 service during summer (June-Aug) and offer a simplified children’s program during our summer worship schedule. We currently average 37 children on Sundays during the regular school year and a fluctuating number of children during the summer. Our volunteer staff currently includes 30 involved in Sunday school and children’s celebration, and existing leadership is actively recruiting additional volunteers. We are committed to the investment of time and resources in our children’s ministries in order to deepen Christ-centered relationships with and among our existing children and their families and to reach out to more families with the love of Christ.
