Student Pastor

Job Description

Goal: to help students make Jesus the Centerpoint of their lives

Essential Responsibilities:
-Build relationships with and disciple 6th - 12th grade students. -Create an environment where students can have fun and encounter God. -Coordinate weekly youth services. -Coordinate events such as camps, conferences, or retreats a few times a year. -Build and equip a strong adult leadership team. 1 adult per 8 students may be a good ratio to shoot for. -Oversee student life groups whether they be on Wednesdays, Sundays, or another time during the week. -Involve parents in what you are doing. Encourage them to partner with you in their student's spiritual development. -Encourage students to be involved in the life of the church as a whole by attending Centerpoint services & events, and by serving on the dream team. -Build rapport with schools in the community. -Try to have a youth ministry that is 10% of the average Sunday attendance. - As with all ministry jobs, please be prepared for other miscellaneous duties as needed

Be hungry to learn and grow through books, podcasts, mentors, etc.
Stewards well what you have - body, time, resources, workspace, car, etc.
Supports and adheres to CP statement of faith, mission, and core values
Is willing to tweak or change their ministry role as needed

Team leaders at Centerpoint:
1. Enlist - Find people for your team. Share the vision to help people understand the part they can play. Usually, one on one, face to face recruiting is most effective.

  1. Equip - Meet with your team leads at least once a month. Communicate details often. Make sure they have good tools. Model culture. Reproduce yourself.

  2. Encourage - Recognize, reward, give shoutouts, cards, texts to team members. Pray with them. Also encourage them to show up, be on time, use good judgement, etc.

  3. Empower - Give team members authority to oversee parts of the ministry. Let them schedule, organize, make decisions, solve problems, lead.
