Summary

First Baptist Church of Austin is seeking a part-time Youth Ministry Associate / Minister to
Students (15–20 hours per week) to lead and nurture ministry with youth in grades 6–12. This
flexible role is ideal for a relational leader who connects well with young people, aligns with our
progressive, open and affirming Baptist theology, and is passionate about faith formation rooted
in social justice and contemplative spirituality. The position offers potential for growth as the
student ministry continues to develop.

Youth Ministry Associate / Minister to Students

Part-Time (15–20 hours per week)

Position Overview

First Baptist Church of Austin is seeking a Youth Ministry Associate / Minister to Students to
lead and nurture our ministry with youth in grades 6–12 and their families. This is a part-time
position (15–20 hours per week) with flexibility in scheduling and potential for growth as the
ministry develops.

We are looking for a relational, adaptable leader who connects naturally with youth, aligns with
our progressive Baptist theology, and has the vision and capacity to help shape and expand a
student ministry rooted in faith, justice, and belonging.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide leadership in developing, organizing, promoting, and evaluating all Student Ministry programming for grades 6–12, including educational, spiritual formation,
mission, and fellowship opportunities.

• Direct curriculum and coordinate materials, supplies, space usage, and facilities for youth programming.

• Recruit, train, and support adult leaders to work with youth.

• Build strong, trusting relationships with youth and families, fostering spiritual growth and inclusion. Regular consistent communication with the youth and families about youth
events and classes.

• Collaborate with the Senior Pastor, pastoral staff, Youth Committee, and other church leaders in outreach and in-reach efforts.

• Develop and manage the Student Ministry budget in coordination with the Youth Committee.

• Participate in the worship life of the church, including Sunday morning worship, preaching, teaching, and leadership as needed.

• Attend staff meetings, provide needed reports to Governing Board and Deacons.

• Ensure compliance with church policies and applicable laws and regulations.
