Job at Immanuel Evangelical Church
We are looking for a Youth Pastor who loves Jesus Christ, has an evangelist heart to reach new communities, and loves working with kids, teens and families.
Job Description
Immanuel Evangelical Church, Needville, Texas, is searching for either a part-time or full-time Youth Pastor. Salary would depend on that employment status.
The Youth Pastor reports directly to the Senior Pastor and will be directly responsible for: helping to organize and lead children's and youth ministries at the church (with an emphasis on grades 6-12) on Sundays, Wednesdays and Friday nights (during the school year), plus other special events. Some preaching during Sunday worship is available.
The Youth Pastor would organize, oversee, and assist with leading Wednesday after-school programs for both children’s and youth ministries, Friday night Catacombs teen night club ministry, along with other special events such as lock-ins, retreats, annual Music Camp and Good Friday drama productions, etc. The candidate would also work with the Senior Pastor and Christian Education Committee to coordinate curriculum needs and volunteer teacher staffing for our Rotation Model children’s Sunday School. He/she would provide ministerial staff support for our paid preschool Leaps & Bounds teaching staff as needed.
Needville is a rapidly growing community as the small town is currently being incorporated into the Houston metro area. With the influx of new families, we are looking for a candidate who loves Jesus Christ, has an evangelist heart to reach new communities, and loves working with kids, teens and families.
Qualifications
The Youth Pastor must have a college degree and must agree to the core values of the youth ministry.
Experience: At least two year’s experience working with youth in some capacity.
Knowledge of
• The basics of the Bible and Christian doctrine
• Microsoft Word and the basics of the Internet, social media, and e-mail (required); Microsoft PowerPoint and Microsoft Excel (preferred)
• Time-management processes that best maximize his or her productivity
Ability to
• Communicate the good news of the Christian faith with warmth, humor, and effectiveness
• Enthusiastically affirm the youth ministry’s and church's "Merge with Jesus" vision, values, and goals
• Engaging and building relationships not only with participating youth, but also youth from the community and from Immanuel Evangelical Church families who have not been regularly participating.
• Execute major events and trips involving multiple details and volunteers
• Maintain healthy relationships with coworkers, youth, parents, and volunteers
• Maintain an accurate database of youth, volunteers, and parents
• Continue to grow in his or her own faith despite chaotic demands of the ministry
• Accomplish tasks independently and proactively without the oversight of a supervisor
• Dream BIG and able to cast that vision in ways that generate enthusiasm, commitment and growth
Physical Demands
The typical youth staff member will endure a number of nights each year with minimal sleep, particularly on trips and retreats with students. In addition, there will be seasons when the physical demands of the youth ministry can be exhausting, particularly when preparing for a major event or multiple major events. Assisting event volunteers with cleanup and staff clean-up days (which take place multiple times through the year) may require some heavy lifting as the staff person’s ability allows.
Immanuel Evangelical Church
Immanuel Evangelical Church is a historic, multi-generational congregation striving to connect the love of Jesus Christ with a rapidly growing community just outside the Houston metro area. We offer ministry opportunities for kids and teens of all ages: from our Leaps & Bounds ministry for toddlers, Wednesday night Children's Fellowship and Youth Fellowship, to Catacombs, our Friday night teen night club ministry for junior and senior high youth. We annually host an elementary age musical in conjunction with Music Camp each summer and a Good Friday youth drama. Worship is traditional with a blend of newer praise music. We offer Rotation Model Sunday School for kids along with adult Bible study classes.
