Are you a caring leader who wants to help teenagers find hope in Jesus? Do you enjoy teaching God’s Word, building strong relationships, and helping others lead well? This may be the opportunity for you.

Commonway Church is a Christ-centered, non-denominational church with a clear mission: inviting people to find hope in Jesus. The church is in a healthy and hopeful season, with a supportive staff, strong leaders, and a heart to serve its city.

The next Youth Pastor will build on a healthy ministry of about 60 middle and high school students. This leader will have room to bring fresh vision while honoring the students, volunteers, and relationships already in place.

The Youth Pastor will:

Help students grow in their relationship with Jesus

Teach the Bible in a clear, practical, and engaging way

Create a place where students feel known, welcomed, and cared for

Recruit, train, and encourage adult volunteers

Partner with parents as they guide their teens

Build relationships with local schools and community leaders

Plan weekly gatherings, events, service projects, and outreach

Work closely with the Commonway staff team

The right person will be a strong relational leader with a deep love for Jesus, students, and families. They will be humble, teachable, emotionally mature, and ready to build a ministry that reaches beyond the church walls.

The area offers schools, healthcare, outdoor recreation, and easy access to Indianapolis and Fort Wayne. Commonway’s downtown location also gives the Youth Pastor a real chance to serve students and families throughout the community.

Commonway Church

Commonway Church began 14 years ago as a young adult ministry at Union Chapel on the north side of Muncie. As the ministry grew, Union Chapel supported the launch of what became Commonway Church, first as a church plant and mobile church for roughly six to seven years. From the beginning, Commonway carried a desire to make a meaningful difference in Muncie, especially in areas of the city facing significant need. Rather than relocate to the suburbs, the church chose to remain downtown and, six years ago, purchased a 40,000-square-foot former JCPenney building as a permanent ministry home.

Commonway has also walked through significant transition. After a challenging season in 2022–2023, the church entered a period of prayer, refinement, and leadership transition that led to the hiring of Lead Pastor Steve Gill in the summer of 2024. Since then, the church has stabilized, added staff and elders, strengthened its leadership structure, invested in outreach and missions, and begun preparing for a new chapter of ministry.
